Diecast Bugatti

Founded in France by an Italian named Ettore Bugatti, Bugatti has been building high performance cars since 1909. Today, the Bugatti brand is owned by Volkswagen AG but still builds a very limited number of cars each year.

The Bugatti Veyron is one of the most impressive sports cars to come along in a while. Along the lines of the McLaren F1 or Ferrari Enzo - Except faster!

Although the Bugatti Veyron is an impressive car, the company has built many impressive cars in it's long history. Each time a new Bugatti was designed, just a few models of each were built, making them a rare and sought after car throughout the world. In total, only 7900 cars were ever produced by the company and just 2000 exist today.

Most cars built by Bugatti were named "Type" and then a letter or number to differentiate them from another model. Some of the more notable models were the electric Type 56, the Type 57SC Atlantic, and the Type 46.

For many years, the Bugatti name disappeared until an Italian entrepreneur, Romano Artioli purchased the Bugatti name in 1987. The first car produced was the Bugatti EB110, which was said to be the most technologically advanced car in the world. After Artioli also acquired Lotus, a recession hit and there was little demand for luxury automobiles and operations ceased in 1995. Only 139 of the Bugatti EB110 were ever produced.

Volkswagen purchased the rights to use the Bugatti name in automobile production in 1998 and set out to build a car that would follow the EB110, but faster, sleeker and much more expensive. The result was the EB118 concept, which had an 18 cylinder engine when it was unveiled as a concept car. This concept became the Bugatti Veyron which was sold for over $1.5 million and shipped to customers in the U.S. starting in 2006. At 987hp, it was the most powerful road car ever built and Bugatti has said that only 300 will be produced.

Whether a diecast Bugatti Veyron would suit your collection or a vintage diecast Bugatti - the company has certainly built enough unique vehicles that deserve to be collected in diecast form.
