Diecast Shelby Cars

Carroll Shelby is a legend in American performance car building as well as his earlier career as a race car driver.  He is known best for the building the Shelby Cobra in the 1960's.

The Shelby Cobra is a high performance roadster that was built by Carroll Shelby in the 1960's.  The Shelby Corba was based on an AC chasis and Ford small block engine and it went on to become one of the most famous sports cars in history.  Several variations of the car were produced and today it is one of the most sought after sports cars ever built.  Quite often in the summer versions of the Shelby Cobra appear on roads all over North America, but often times they are kit cars built by hand in the garage of a mechanic or auto enthusiast.

One of the most rare Shelby cars was the Shelby Daytona Cobra coupe, of which only 6 were ever made.  For years 5 cars were accounted for, but one, called the CSX2287 remained a mystery.  No one had seen it for over 3 decades until 2001 when it was found in a storage garage.  The owner had committed suicide and a legal battle began to determine the owner of the $4 million car.  The Shelby Daytona Coupe truly was a race car and was never really built to drive on streets.

After Shelby's success building cars of their own, Carroll Shelby teamed up with Ford and Dodge to build cars that would have a Shelby touch to them.

The first was the 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 race car which was meant to take on the Chevrolet Corvette.  From 1965 to 1970 Shelby teamed up with Ford to build many variations of the Shelby Mustang, which were built for high performance.  In 2006 Shelby and Ford teamed up once again to begin production of high performance Mustangs bearing the Shelby name.

A diecast Shelby Cobra would indeed be a great option for any collection, or a rarer diecast Shelby Daytona Coupe might be a better fit.  If newer cars are your style, a Diecast Shelby Mustang may be your answer.
