What do the numbers mean?

1:18 Scale diecast cars are 1/18th the size of a real car.  They are small enough that they don't take up a lot of space, yet large enough that they can have very intricate detail.  They are usually large enough to have working steering wheels, doors that open as well as trunks and hoods.  Depending on your budget, 1:18 scale cars can even include real carpet, upholstery, engine wiring and more.  A typical 1:18 scale diecast car or truck is usually about 5 inches long, but of course that will depend on how large the real vehicle actually is. There are a number of companies that build 1:18 scale diecast cars including; Ertl, Hot Wheels, Maistro and Kyosho.
